Write an out-of-the-blue thank you note for a mood boost

Ever write an out-of-the-blue thank you? It will make you and the recipient feel amazing!

Here are the steps:

➊ Think of someone who inspired you in your career or taught you something that you still use today.

➋ Pick 1-2 things you want to thank them for. Specific memories are great. "I'll never forget that activity we did in biology class..." or "Learning how to give a criticism sandwich in ballet class has helped me give great feedback to my employees."

➌ Write a note/letter to send in the mail (highly preferred--they can keep it forever!) or an email to let them know that you appreciate that thing they did for you or taught you and that you just wanted to thank them.

✅ Result: Happy endorphins and good karma for all!

Over the years, I've written letters to former bosses, co-workers, teachers (academic and dance, etc.), and more. They don't need to be gushy, and the best part is that the thank you is the object of the letter.

There's no ask. Just thanks.

Out of the blue, they check their mailbox, and there it is--someone telling them that they made a difference. Isn't that what we all want?
